Construction is in full swing at the new six-story Studio Museum in Harlem at 144 West 125th Street. This project, led by union contractors and carpenters from the New York City District Council of Carpenters, is making incredible strides. The sleek black, 82,000-square-foot building is expertly crafted and will showcase artists of African descent and works inspired by Black culture locally, nationally, and internationally. The building will house over 2,000 objects and include a café, lecture halls, a roof deck, and retail space. The construction and renovations at Coney Island Hospital are well underway, thanks to the skilled and dedicated work of union contractors and the New York City District Council of Carpenters. Coney Island Hospital has always been an important element of Brooklyn, and now, with these new additions taking shape, we can look forward to improved medical facilities and services that cater to the growing needs of the community.

Over a decade ago, Hurricane Sandy devastated the community and flooded much of Coney Island Hospital. Now, with nearly $1 billion in funding, the city’s public hospital system was able to construct a fortress designed to withstand even a once-in-a-century flood.

Nineteen union contractors and the New York City District Council of Carpenters are bringing their expertise to this project. Their precision and detailed work on these facilities is a wonderful example of their skilled craftsmanship. The construction of Coney Island Hospital is not just about erecting a facility, it’s about building a brighter future for our community.
