The historic TWA terminal at JFK Airport is once again open for business after a complete redesign and renovation as a hotel. The new design is inspired by the 1960s space-age futurism, paying homage to the building’s golden era. This development features union-made luxury interiors and a stunning natural-light lounge with floor to ceiling windows. Contractors on this project include Wood Pro 2 Installers, Inc., Oxford Electronics, Inc., Sorbara Construction Corp., and Consolidated Carpet working with the New York City District Council of Carpenters.

New York’s very first proton treatment center opened in 2019 in East Harlem. Millwrights from Local Union 740 of the New York City District Council of Carpenters, working with Bay Crane, did the critical alignments with an unparalleled level of precision for this cutting-edge cancer treatment facility. Union contractors also worked on the drywall, interiors, and furniture installation for this project. Contractors on this project include Island Acoustics, J D’Annunzio & Sons Inc., Ari Products Inc., Permadur Industries Inc., American Wood Installers, Consolidated Carpet, Advanced Scaffold Services, Bay Crane Service, Horizon Contracting, National Furniture Installer, and Wood Pro 2 Installers.

The museum’s new internal structure will feature a new 30,000 square foot gallery and a re-imagined layout meant to create a more accessible, inclusive experience for visitors. This $450 million project also extended the museum’s historic Bauhaus stairs and added a first-floor lounge. The museum’s makeover has been received very positively since it reopened in October of 2019. Union contractors Wood Pro 2 Installers, Sherland & Farrington, Inc., Consolidated Carpet, National Acoustics, and Kay & Sons worked on this renovation with The New York City District Council of Carpenters.

Union carpenters are proud to have worked on the Fisher Houses project in the Bronx. Since 2019, these homes have provided free lodging for military families of patients at the James J. Peters VA Medical Center. Guests can form a community at Fisher Houses, helping each other through difficult times. Pyramid Floor Covering Inc., Rivco Construction LLC, and Ruttura and Sons Construction were on this job with the New York City District Council of Carpenters.

Construction at 138 Willoughby Street, also known as Brooklyn Point, is nearing completion. This 68-story, 720-foot-tall skyscraper will be the tallest tower in the borough. Union contractors Universal Builders Supply Inc., Safway Atlantic, Insulation Contractors Inc., R&J Construction Corp., and Urban Foundation/Engineering are working with the New York City District Council of Carpenters to put the finishing touches and this addition to our skyline.

This ambitious union-built project elevated the bridge’s deck by 64 feet to accommodate modern cargo ships. A brand-new bike and pedestrian lane were also added. Union carpenters worked with contractors Ferreira Construction Company, Skanska/Koch/Kiewit JV, and American Pile and Foundation on this critical upgrade to our region’s infrastructure.

Trevcon Construction Company and Local Union 1556 working on a new pier at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. This $80,000,000 reconstruction of Pier C will serve as the new city-wide ferry service home port in New York City.

Brookfield Properties is developing this 7 million square feet mixed use project that includes offices, housing, a hotel, retail and a public plaza built over rail lines. Union carpenters and contractors are now working on this $4.5 billion project in the Hudson Yards neighborhood.

This gem of east midtown Manhattan hotels recently underwent a $175 million renovation that recreates its original 1926 luster. Cord Contracting Co. and a team of union carpenters were proud to rebuild the lobby, ballrooms and 700 guest room interiors.
